PURPOSE OF MANUAL

This manual is designed as a guide for architects, builders, engineers, electrical contractors, and others who are planning electrical installations within GPU ENERGY'S service territory. This booklet should not be considered as a complete manual of rules and specifications governing every type of electrical wiring installation; it is designed to provide information on the more common types of installations and to help eliminate unnecessary delays in obtaining electric service. We hope you find this information to be useful. All inquiries regarding service requirements should be directed to one of the Company's Customer Operations Centers or Customer Service Centers.

The information and data in this manual is supplementary to and is not intended to conflict with the National Electrical Code, federal, state, county, or municipal laws and ordinances in effect in the area served by the Company. Also nothing herein should be construed to supersede in any way the:

• Tariff of Rates, Rules and Regulations for Penelec as filed with the PUC.
• General Rules and Regulations of the Tariff for Met-Ed as filed with the PUC.
• Tariff for Electric Service for Jersey Central Power & Light Company d/b/a GPU Energy, as filed with the New Jersey Board of Public Utilities.

This manual is subject to amendment from time to time, and will be reissued on an as-needed basis. It is the responsibility of the user to obtain the current issue. This manual supersedes all previous issues and instructions.
