and Meter Installation Requirements Guide 03.05 STANDARD VOLTAGES SERVICE CHARACTERISTICS The standard service supplied by the Company is alternating current with a nominal frequency of 60 hertz. Not all types of service listed below are available at all locations, and service voltages other than secondary may be specified by the Company under special conditions such as may relate to the location, size, or type of load. The Company may specify the voltage, phase, and minimum and maximum load that it will supply at any particular voltage. The Company will furnish transformation facilities for secondary service up to a maximum of 300 KVA pole mounted or 2500 KVA padmounted per contract location. Contract locations requiring in excess of these limits will normally be provided untransformed (primary metered) service, in which case the Customer shall install, own, operate, and maintain the necessary transformation and associated facility in accordance with Company service requirements. Subject to the foregoing limitations, the types of service available with their nominal voltages are as follows. Note: In New Jersey, for voltages under 150 volts, the allowable deviation from the nominal service voltage is +/- 4% for secondary service only; deviations greater than +/- 4% are permissible as long as they do not exceed five (5) minutes in duration. In Pennsylvania for service rendered for lighting purposes, the allowable variation in voltage may not exceed, for a period longer than one minute in each instance, +/- 5% of the standard nominal voltage, and 8% total variation from minimum to maximum. For service rendered primarily for power purposes, the allowable variation may not exceed, for a period longer than one minute in each instance, +/-10% of the standard nominal voltage. Underground Network System Area Voltages are shown in Requirement 8.05
* Single phase service may be available for the voltages shown. Contact GPU Energy for additional information. ** Three phase, four wire service at 19900/34500Y volts is considered as primary service for construction and metering, but is classified as transmission service for rate purposes in New Jersey. Since there are minimum load requirements for different voltages, the Company must always be consulted regarding the type of service to be supplied. Dual voltage transformers rated for initial primary service voltage and the future primary service voltage are recommended. Refer to Requirement 4.53 for details of customer-owned transformers.
