Service and Meter Installation Requirements Guide

04.05   POINT OF DELIVERY

All overhead service locations (both new and upgraded/relocated) must be approved by the appropriate Work Location prior to service equipment installation. Service equipment installed without approval and incorrectly located, will be subject to change or relocation. The point of attachment will normally be at the corner of the building nearest the GPU Energy facility designated by the Company for the service connection. Services shall not cross over adjacent private property. (See figure in Requirement 12.02).

In those instances where the Company is to supply underground secondary service in an Underground Distribution area, the appropriate Work Location must be consulted regarding the meter location and service connection point. Underground service will normally be furnished to a location on the side of the building nearest the point at which the service enters the property.

LOCATION OF CUSTOMER'S MAIN SWITCH AND METERING-FLOOD PLAIN AREAS

Industrial and Commercial customers located within Flood Plain areas should place their electrical equipment such as main switches, emergency generators, etc., above the projected water level established by the Army Corps of Engineers.

If the main switchgear is not located above the projected flood level, the customer must furnish and install disconnect(s) a minimum of 2 feet above the projected flood level and ahead of the switchgear. In network areas, the Customer must furnish and install the necessary conduit from curb line to the disconnect and GPU Energy will furnish and install the conductor to the disconnect.

If the main switchgear is located above the flood level in network areas, the Customer must furnish and install the conduit from the curb line to the switchgear or disconnect. GPU Energy will furnish and install the conductor up to a height of 15 feet above street level on the inside wall nearest the service entrance to the building. The Customer, at this point, must furnish and install a disconnect and conductor from this point to the switchgear. Contact the nearest GPU Energy office for more specific information.
