04.30   SERVICE ENTRANCE - MULTI-FAMILY

A common service entrance for multi-family dwellings each having more than one (1) branch circuit shall have protective equipment equal to 100 amperes per unit and conductors having a capacity not less than the following:

2 family dwellings - 150 amperes
3-4 family dwellings - 175 amperes
5-6 family dwellings - 200 amperes

Multi-family meter sockets must be permanently labeled as to the apartment number that each socket will serve.

The service entrance conductors for apartment buildings having over six (6) dwelling units with more than one (1) branch circuit per unit shall conform to the requirements of the National Electrical Code, but in no case shall the capacity be less than the following:

7 to 30 dwelling units - 200 amperes plus 12 amperes per unit above 6 units.

For installations requiring more than six (6) meters, a sealable style MAIN SWITCH, approved by the Company shall be provided as required by the National Electrical Code, Article 230-71. Weatherproof equipment or a weatherproof enclosure is required if equipment is installed outdoors.
