04.70   MOBILE HOME AND TRAILER SERVICE

PERMANENT / TRANSIENT OCCUPANCY

The term "mobile home" (i.e., manufactured home) in this booklet is intended to apply to the NEC mobile home definition. Individual mobile homes which are considered reasonably permanent by virtue of lot ownership with development of water and sewage facilities will be served by GPU Energy as follows:

For overhead services from existing overhead lines, the Customer must furnish and install a pressure treated pole or timber, as detailed on the figure in Requirement 12.22.

GPU Energy will extend its facilities to this pole on which the Customer has furnished and installed a GPU Energy approved meter socket, the service entrance conductors, protective equipment , and a four-conductor feeder to the mobile home distribution panel in accordance with all applicable provisions of the National Electrical Code.

For underground services, GPU Energy will provide, own and maintain an underground service to the meter socket located on the service equipment adjacent to the mobile home, provided the Customer furnishes and installs conduit (and riser where required) and provides the trench. See Customer handout packet. See figure in Requirements 12.40 & 12.42 .

If a double-wide has a nameplate indicating that it is a mobile home, then it must be served as a mobile home. The nameplate is usually located directly inside the main entrance used for entering and exiting the dwelling. For exceptions, see conditions below.

Generally mobile home service equipment must be installed adjacent (service equipment to be in sight from and not more than 30 feet from the exterior wall of the mobile home it serves) and not be mounted in or on the mobile home, including foundation, regardless of permanency.

Service equipment shall be permitted to be installed in or on a "mobile home" provided all of the following conditions are met:

The manufactured home has affixed to each section, a red Federal Department of Housing and Urban Development (i.e., HUD) certification label indication that it has been designed, manufactured, and inspected in accordance with HUD rules.

Wiring and service equipment shall be installed in compliance with NEC Article 550-23. Electrical inspection agency is responsible for providing assurance that the service equipment is completely installed by the mobile home manufacturer or that the manufacturer has retained responsibility for the installation

Mobile home service equipment, including power supply cord or permanent feeder cable, is to be inspected by an electrical inspection agency.

UNDERGROUND SERVICE TO MOBILE HOME PARKS

Service to mobile home parks will be supplied according to the conditions listed below:

In all cases, the Customer-owned distribution and/or individual services, including power supply cord or permanent feeder cable, must be inspected by a GPU Energy recognized inspection agency or municipal inspection bureau, using the National Electrical Code as a minimum standard.

General Service with a single meter - where the park owner or operator provides the distribution to individual mobile homes, and the electric service as part of his rental or general service charge to tenants. RESALE OF ELECTRIC ENERGY THROUGH PARK-OWNED METERS IS NOT PERMITTED.

GPU Energy will extend its underground distribution facilities to one (1) or more locations consisting of a single or double meter pedestals, provided Customer furnishes and installs conduit (and riser where required) and provides trench. See Customer Handout Packet. The mobile park Owner shall extend service from the individual meter locations to the mobile homes in accordance with all applicable provisions of the National Electrical Code.

GPU Energy will furnish and install the service to the line side of the meter bank and the Customer will provide and install GPU Energy approved meter sockets, which must be permanently labeled as to the appropriate lot numbers.

Individually metered domestic service for individual mobile homes - in mobile home parks will be rendered under the same provisions as set forth under Requirement 4.20 .
