05.20   METER CLEARANCES

Minimum clearances from a GPU Energy approved meter socket and/or instrument transformer enclosure are defined below:

There shall be no less than four (4) feet of clear area in front of and not less than one (1) foot clear area on all sides of all metering equipment at all times.

From the top or bottom of stairs to an approved meter socket, there shall be a minimum of six (6) feet.

From the side of any grounded object to the side of an approved meter socket there shall be a minimum of eighteen (18) inches.

From the edge of a driveway to an approved meter socket, there shall be a minimum of three (3) feet for a residential driveway and six (6) feet for all other driveways, thoroughfares and parking areas.

Inability to meet any of the above clearances shall require mechanical protection (barrier posts) as defined in Requirement 5.25 .

Minimum clearance between gas and electric supply shall be three (3) feet for natural gas and ten (10) feet for liquefied gas, see figure in Requirement 12.48 .
