08.15   NETWORK AREAS - SERVICE ENTRANCE & SERVICE TROUGH

The Customer shall provide mechanical protection: i.e., trough, conduit, etc. for the GPU Energy service cable from the point where the service cable enters the building to the metering equipment or main protection device. The Customer shall contact GPU Energy to determine site specific requirements.

UNDERGROUND SERVICE ON AN EXISTING NETWORK SYSTEM

A service from a complete underground network distribution system consists of ducts and cables between street mains and the customer's building. The ducts between street mains and curb line will be provided and installed by GPU Energy. See requirement 4.20 for information on ownership/installation responsibilities of the Customer and Company for secondary service, conduit or duct bank. See figure in Requirements 12.32, 12.76 & 12.78 . For multiple meter installations, the Customer shall make the necessary connections from the service conductors to the metering facilities. Limiter compartments are necessary where there are 2 or more conductors per phase.

Information must be obtained from GPU Energy regarding the character of the service and its location before any wiring is installed on the premises.

SERVICE TERMINATION

For underground services where a main entrance switch is not required on the line side of the meters, but when a trough or junction box is required, it shall be provided by the Customer and the service shall terminate in the enclosure. The trough shall have minimum dimensions of 6" x 6" x 12" for 100 ampere service and 12" x 12" x 18" for 200 ampere service, and shall have provisions for installing GPU Energy locks and/or seals.
